Hello guys and girls for that matter!:-wave

A complete newbie here! Using the great info in this forum, I am in the process of setting up my motorized system and have couple of questions just to make sure things will be ok on the day!!:-shifty

Let’s start with the goods!
Technomate 1500 super
Technomate 2100 motor
Funke 1M dish
0.2 Titanium LNB.

My Latitude = 54 degrees north and my Longitude = 1 west.
Using the motor instructions, the dish elevation will be 22.4.
Is it right that Thor 2A (1 degree west) where I should point the dish to get the arc correctly?:confused

If that is the case than using (_http://www.satsig.net/maps/lat-long-finder.htm ), it tells me that Thor 2A is Azimuth= 182.2 (magnetic compass). And dish elevation= 28.4.
Is that where I should point the dish to get (1 degree west)?
Why there is a difference in the elevation value between the manual instruction and the website calculator? Does it matter?!:confused

Many thanks for all the help and suggestions:-worship :-worship

The manual instructions allow for the addition of the motor, so use the declination setting in there to set the dish bracket elevation.

Do not rely on compass settings only, make sure that you can see 1W before playing around and moving the motor with the receiver, see my howto for the Moteck motor in the howto section.

Thanks for the tip rolf. I just would like to say that most of my info and "how to do it" came from your pictorial guide. So thank you very much.
Now i am just waiting for the rain to stop!

Hello guys
I have a good news and bad news! the good one is, the dish has been mounted to the wall as acurately as possible and the the signal strength for the satellites is between 79% to 89%.
The bad news is the quality level is moving between 3 to 9%!
Moving the dish east or west doesn't improve the signal quality:(
Any help and tips in what i should do next will be extremaly apprecited.
Cheers

It seems that you are perhaps not pointing at the satellite you think you are or your dish needs minor adjustment or your receiver is not set for a strong transponder on 1 deg West 11166 V 1450-7/8 is probably the best to try as the spot 1 beam is aimed more at Europe and UK whereas the Nordic beams are harder to get in the UK as they are aimed at Scandanavia although you do have a 1mtr dish
