Hi all,

I have a polar mount and also a 12" superjack Actuator. System is up but not aligned very well.

I'm in Northampton Long 52.23 Lat -0.96 The system is on a south facing wall. I would like some pointers to make sure I get the best signal etc.

What's my direct sat due south of me?

What angle should my polar mount be set at? I calculate 90 degress - 52.23 = 37.77, is this correct? If I use SMW software it shows me 30.51.

I'm confused;{

Finally my dish also has degrees marke as 2 options 5 to 40 degrees (Triax dish picture shows LNB to left. or 20 to 55 degrees with lnb facing right.)

Any ideas to help me give a go at setting this up correctly will be appreciated.

You are ideally located to line up on 1.0°w/0.8°w (Intelsat/Thor)

30.51° & 37.77° look about right. 30.51° is the elevation of the satellite & 37.77° is the mount rotating axis angle. The difference is declination.

So, let me get this right, I need to set my Polar Mount to 37.77 degrees as per the markings on my mount. I know where 1W is.

Then all I need to do is move my dish up or down until I get the best signal.

Is all this right?

Yes, that looks correct.

But polar mounts differ. If that doesn't work you need to give more details of your mount.

Gave it a go at the weekend, still doesn't track correctly.

I've attached a picture of the set up. Can you tell me if I am correct with where I do the elevation and declination.

Appreciate the help and guidance. Also what's the strongest FTA transponder on 1W?

Hello everybody!

Think i am dealing with the same problem. Newbie and setting up a dish with polar mount. My Longitude = 52.00 N and Lititude = 5.53E. Now i can adjust my mount on two places: see pictures

And here:

My thought is that my elevation is 90-52=38. That is the angle i should allign in the bottom picture. My declination is 38-30.51=7.5 this i should align in my top picture?

Is this all right and can somebody explain me if not how to set it up then?

Greetz and thanks in advance!!
