pole movement in heavy winds on a 1.2 gibby

im after some advice/opinions on using a 1.2m dish on a over-the-gutter exposed installation(north facing wall looking over the roof on a 2 story building) and require your experience please... atm ive got a 1.25m gibby on a stab120 on top of a 10f scaff pole with 6ft above the top k-bracket(for maximum arc) and in heavy winds its swaying back and forth and losing even the strong sats(albeit temporarely) im considering going with the moteck h180 gtp1800 and a 3m 76mm pole for maximum strength set at 60 percent above and 40 below(although could drop to 50/50 if need be but not wanted due to loosing part of the arc) but dont want to spend nearly £400 and still lose my weaker sats... has anyone got any advice,opinions or has a similar set-up(cm 1.2 or similar) and can offer their observations ect. regards mdt

I've done a 1.2m Channel master above the roofline before now using a 3" steel pole.

I've not had any reports off the owner about it losing signals. I think you just need a more sturdy pole if it above the roofline.

Always going to be an issue with a Gib 125 on a H-H high up. A polar mount and jack should give you more stability.

so your saying a gibertini polar mount and actuator would be more stable than the moteck h180 gtp-1800am h-to-h mount on a over-the-roof install, even on a 76mm pole? regards mdt

For the sake of a bit of metal, personally I'd try and get a larger percentage of the pole below, it will make it stronger, as the brackets will flex if too close together.

My 1metre channel master on a jaeger 1224 motor is above the gutter without any issues.

I have a 3 inch pole but only about 4 feet of the 2 metre pole is above the top bracket.

The dish will move about in strong winds if there is too much pole above the top bracket.

In that case a longer pole and more brackets further down the wall may work better.

ive got my precision 1.2m on a scaffold pole above the gutter, this flexes in high winds the brackets hold it securely but the pole is not rigid enough, my cm 1.2m is on a 3" pole and is rock steady i have also taken the precaution of fixing it to the ground as well as two k brackets i would go for the thicker pole!

hi,if i go with the polar mount/actuator combo whats the maximum arc range i can expect from a 18 inch jack?? i know 57e to 30w is do-able on a 1.2m andrews polar mount/18 inch jack so would a 24 inch one get me to say 62e 58w on a gibby PM? also jeager do a heavy duty 24inch jack.. would this be overkill? or would a standard one suffice for the 1.25 gibby, regards mdt
