Authorised AFN decoders are rarer than hens teeth! One of our members took over 2 years to find one - and I think it went wrong 6 months after he bought it!

,sounds great,i would take one too:)
but i think, its very expensive up to 500$,and there are no soldiers, that want to sell one:)
intrsting would be,is this decoder free,to every soldier,or must they pay a fix price, and subrsibrson limited to one year?

Turok, major manufacturer for this receiver is Scientific Atlanta.
Look for model D9834 in google for the spec.
And it is PowerVu

The ONLY manufacturer is Scientific Atlanta!

PowerVu receivers turn up quite regularly on fleabay, but remember these will not still be authorised for their channels.

I have also edited out the commas in the title of the thread Turok - you use far too many and they make things difficult to read

Thx:)
just send you a pm!

last year ,when i was in neaples,(south italy)visiting friends,
i was watching,afn!
when, you have luck, and life near,a nato HQ Point, then you can watch it afn ofer dvb t FTA,sending in ntsc:)
now,i dont know,how many,nato base italy have?
we have,no one,coz Austria,is no member,of nato !

the signal power,is very low,and you need big antennas, only range maybe 5 km!
,with big fm Antenna,i can reveive Afn Radio in the night on 102,3 MHZ,from Stuttgart Germany, nearly, every night!
always here the programm,afn,the eagle:)

on medium wave,AFN Radio is Sending on 873

but,the programm,is difrent !

S/A powervu receivers are no good from ebay only as a door stop S/A will only authorise decoders that originate from a military exchange they are have record of each decoder and what exhange it was send when new and who brought it,

Slightly OT, I noticed last week that BFBS (the UK equivalent of AFN) now show some Sky programming. The most interesting (to me anyway!) was the fact they show The Daily Show - even on their Navy service. I'd be surprised if AFN show that! ;o) ...EDIT - AFN *do* show it, well I never!

I will upload some more pics on here,

The only downside to afn is the pic is very poor it is like watching a 15 year old poor qulity vhs tape with the vcr hooked up by RF coax on uhf, This is why i do not watch afn that much,
