Hi;
I just bought a dreamBox 500S from Dubay and get back to my country TUNISIA.
I installed everything, and the receiver works fine.
But I have a lot of channels missing , that the receive can't catch.
After hard research, I found that all the channels that work under 22Khz V are missing and don't work.
Please give an advise and an idea to resolve this problem because it's not comfortable for me and my kids .
Channel missing : Hot Bird : Multivision, SRG, Tunis 7, etc ...
ASTRA : Planet, NGC, some channels from TPS, etc ...
Many thanks
Best regards:-worship

Hi,
There could be a number of causes of your problem.
I can think of these two:-

There might be a problem with your lnb, or your box may not be sending the correct control to it.

I have a small satellite finder meter that has LEDs on it showing if the receiver is selecting H or V, or whether the 22kHz is present to switch to high band. Maybe try one of those to check your receiver output.

This problem may be either caused by a fault in the settings. Check them. Make sure the LNB type is set to universal and the 22kHz tone switching is enabled.

Check the LNB by replacing it with another, see if that works. Make sure it's a universal type.

Thank you for your reply
I checked my LNB and it's working fine, it's universal type
I have a friend who said that I have a change something inside the receiver , like an electronic component or like that.
But I don't wanna open the receiver, may that will make it out of order.
I'm lost

Well you need to check that the receiver is sending the 22kHz tone to switch bands and that it is supplying the two different voltages to change polarisation. As I said before, you can check this with a sat meter, that has indicators on it for this. If when you change band or polarisation on the receiver and there are no indications of it on the meter, then it's a box fault or bad settings.

I don't have that box, but maybe some screen shots, may help others to check that they are correct.

Yes you wouldn't want to take the box apart, unless you knew something was actually worong, what was wrong and actually how to fix it.

Thank you all for answering me.
My dish is 1.4m and all the channels work fine with my second receiver Humax 5400 Z.
And the sat meter, I don't have it, may be I have to ask my friend if he has it. If this is the problem, is that means that I have to change something inside the box? if yes which one
Many thanks

There is a setting in one of the menus for changing lnb settings; I'm not at home so can't help you further.

Conclusive!

Problem with receiver, either broken or set up wrong, so meter not required.

As said before a screen shot of your settings will help greatly.:)

It is quite frustrating for me to try to help someone when he gives only partial description of his setup.
Please update your profile so that it will show your actual setup.
Now I know that you have a dish of 1.4m
That you have another receiver
That you are using a motorized system and not a fixed system.
The motor type is not indicated so do give it's model number.
For 1.4m you probably need a special type.
If you had put all this in your profile in the first place, we would have had a better picture instead of asking so many questions.
I think that 1.4m is not big enough especially for Astra.
The fact that you your Humax can receive all the channels might be due to better sensitivity in it's tuner than the 500S.
Can you point your dish to a strong satellite in your location (Perhaps Nilesat 7W ?) and try to check that all the channels are there so as to rule out the problem with the 22KHz theory ?
Thank you.

Update:
Another possibility is that you have a fixed dish with LNB for Astra and HotBird.

Another possibility is that he is pointing at one satellite and tuning to channels which have frequencies and settings which are identical to channels on the other satellite. We call this crossover frequencies where details are identical between channels on different satellites so people think they are picking up two satellies.

But as you have quite rightly already said if the o/p would fill out his profile with all the details of his set up we would not be guessing like this

Hi everybody
Thank you all for trying to help me, because really I'm lost.
I had a Humax 5400Z which works fine with a 1.4m dish, but for the sharing I have to connect it to my PC all the time to work fine which is not comfortable , than after I bought a DreamBox 500S which works better in sharing, because I don't need to turn on my PC to watch crypted channels, I connect the receiver directly to my router and that's it.
But as what I said before, some channels that work under 22Khz V don't work despite they work fine with my Humax with same installation and same satellite (ASTRA,HotBird, NileSat), I checked evrything in the soft installation , i didn't see anything abnormal, I followed the user guide, and nothing.
When I try to to see one of these channels, the message screen is "Program not found".
May be a problem with my tuner, or I have to replace something inside the receiver .
The Sub menu "LNB configuration" shows LOF/L 09750 , LOF/H 10600;
Threshold 11700. and in the book they said to not change these values.
Many thanks to help me.
Best regards

If you can take the time to type such a lengthy description of your problems, then I am sure that you can spare a minute or less to update your profile.
If you don't know how, just ask.
Please update with the following:
Dish Size
Fixed or motorized
If motorized, give motor make and model
Pointing to which satellites
Receivers make and models

Without the update, I doubt if anybody would want to help you any further.
Thank you.

Hi,

You said before that none of the channels under 22kHz V didn't work.

Now you are saying that SOME of them don't work.

Which is it?

It is important.

Do a check
Can you get both Hi and lo band signals?
Can you get both polarities?
( Not necessarily all the channels, but this will confirm that at least your LNB is being controlled properly)

The tuner in the 500s isn't the best; are the channels you can't see of weaker signal strength?

It would be is better if you can update your profile using the Control panel.

To edit profile
Click on User CP at the top and from the Control Panel on the left click on
Edit Profile > Satellite & Computer Setup

Type your profile in the text box

This way everybody can see your profile in every post you make now or in the future. Thank You.
