I'm having a small problem with my motor. When I change channels from one satellite to another the motor only moves if I pick a channel on a transponder with horizontal polarization first.

This sounds familiar!

My problem (see link below) started in the same way (only responding to Horizontal TP's when changing sat and eventually not at all) and is as yet unresolved - I think that it lies with the receiver as changing LNB and re-setting the motor had no effect. At the week-end I tried taking the receiver to the dish with a fly-lead to make certain that it wasn't a cable problem but still the same.

Any new ideas welcome!

First step - try unplugging the receiver from the mains overnight - that worked for a while!

Good luck . . . .

If the motor will only operate on the horizontal voltage, it indicates that there is either voltage loss in the cable/connections, the motor is struggling in some way, or the receiver could be faulty.

Thanks for the advice, the sat cable is 14m long so that's probably the problem.

Fourteen metres should not be a problem, the voltage drop over that distance is marginal.
