My Satellite Setup
TM-9100 Linux receiver / Edision OS mini 4K / TM-2600 M3 motor / 110cm dish (34.5w to 50e) - 100cm dish (51.5e/52e/53e/60e)
My Location
Grays, Essex
Hi! My 1000D Super arrived yesterday from being repaired and I tried to get some satellites and I can get nearly all the ones available on the east (5e, 10e,13e,16e,19.e and 28.2e) and I was able to get a number from the west (1w, 4w, 5w, 12.5w and 15w). I tried to get Hispasat but I have been unsuccessful, I was trying to get the signal for 11.811H and I can get signal for it (70%<) but then it shows the no audio/video error message. I then tried to do a scan and it gave me almost like 30 channels with arab, italian, french, german channels but not the ones that I want to watch (Andalucia, etc).

Can somebody help me and tell me what I would do and what am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Does the dish move at all towards the west when you choose one of the West sat's? If not, make sure you have your correct coordinates entered into the box as these could have been defaulted when the box was repaired.

Yeah, since I'm able to get some of the west satellites. Also I did a little experiment and I told my mum that she should move the antenna to 30w on the receiver and I would check out the motor and see whether it was on 30w. It moved to the west but it wasn't exactly on 30w.. it was around half way through 30w and 35w (probably on 32.7).. is that OK? since I've heard that 32.7 is the true angle for hispasat.. I'm really confused and yet I don't seem to be getting the right channels.

I don't know your receiver but can you reflash with the latest upgrade?

You need to try stepping the motor East/West manually to fine tune its position, maximising the signal quality reading on the receiver. Don't know the firmware in your box, but you must be able to do this by satellite and then store it in the motor.

You don't say what motor, but I assume DiSEqC.

Don't attempt to flash your receiver at this point. You may compound your problem. Search the forum here for a list of strongest transponders to set up on for each satellite, and make sure it's included in your receivers transponer list.

I use USALS to find the satellite and DiSEqC to tune the transponders..

One of the problems that I have is that I get signal when tuning the transponders to the left and the quality of the signal is over 70% but it gives me the "no audio/video" message and when I scan for channels, I get all these arabic, italian, french and german channels instead of the ones I want to get, ie. Cabo TV, spanish, etc...

My receiver is a Technomate 1000D Super
The motor is a Stab hh90 and I've got a 80cm dish.
I've got the Darkman's 03/12/05 patch which I think is version 1.61

Like I said before, I can get almost all the east birds and some of the west birds.. (Except 7w, 8w)

If you have Arab, german Channels, french channels, you don't have hispasat.
Hispasat have only RTL (german), m6 and mcm (french), and no arab channels.
Your dish is not pointing in the good direction (you might bee catching hotbird channels or something)
Try to use Googleearth to see your exact coordinates (if you can see your home from there its easy to know your exact location), or a gps device if you have one, and try to point your dish correctly (i bet your dish is very very far from hispasat because there is no satellite with such channels nearby).

If your know your exact location try this azimut calculator to calculate orientation and elevation of the dish
_http://www.sateliteinfos.com/satelites/azimut_elevacion.asp

Maybe your motor is not working very well.

Good Luck

Yep, I agree.

I don't think your dish/motor is setup right at all.

Go back and check your geometry/alignment, especially the mast for being vertical.

I think so too but what I don't understand is the following

Here's a screenshot of a site I went to calculate the Azimuth and Elevation angles acording to where I live. It says that my Azimuth is 216.33 and my elevation is 24.81. WHat I don't understand is how do I have to apply this. As I said before, I'm able to get a number of birds from 28.2e to 15w and I think that if I move the dish to that position, I would lose all of these birds.

Can anyone advice me on this?

I think you first of all best to check your pole is 100% straight.. Posible it has moved.. and isnt catching the arc correctly.. If its not level it could be going out of alignment before it reaches 30w

can you get anything past 28.2 east?? this may be hard as your dish is only 80cm

I can't get anything past 28.2e.. I get a pretty bad signal in the BBC channels.

Defenetly those channels are not from hispasat.
Those are from hotbird...

Channels from hispasat 30W
_http://www.lyngsat.com/hispa.html

the channels you found are from Hotbird 13E (they are on this list for sure):
_http://www.lyngsat.com/hotbird.html

If i was you, i would go to the roof with a a compass to see if your antena is pointing to 216.33º (from the calculation you made (south west+ or -) , or if you find one buy a satfinder to see if your antena is pointing well to hispasat ( its about 15 Euros , 10 pound in your case).
I bet that your antena is pointing to south east (maybe around 150/150º on a compass) and that's why your are catching Hotbird Channels. I say that because in the south west .. there are no such channels.

I've found something pretty weird now. I went to the roof to see the readings on the Stab hh90.. I moved the sat to Thor and it showed that the diagram on the motor had moved to 1.. which is OK. I then moved to Hotbird and the diagram on the motor showed that it had moved to 13.. so that's OK. I then moved to 12.5W and the diagram on the motor said that it moved to that bird, so it was OK. However, I moved the dish to 18W and somehow it showed some french channels and I saw on the dish that it was in fact on 13E :-S. I then tried with Hispasat and somehow it showed me that it moved to 0 instead of 30 as it should be.

I dunno what's going on and I dunno what to do. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I've not really got time right now to give this much thought, but you may have overwritten the satellite location table in the motor. The receiver might be referencing an index on the table (goto satellite position 5) rather than using an absolute command (goto 30.0 west).

Also, are you sure that your longitude is +0.08W?

Do you have any motor limits set, either hard or soft?

With the data you gave your motor have a delay of 30º.
If you are trying to go to 18ª W and the dish point to 13º E it's about 31º of diference.
When you ask to your motor to go to 30Wº it point you to 0º. So you always have a diference about 30º.
All your setup (dish + motor) is 30/31º displaced on the left.
So you might have to turn your motor about 30/31º to the right and all the Birds might be corresponding again.
I bet this will work ...
Try with a good compass to position the motor/dish.

My understanding is that 13E, 1W and 12.5W are working OK?!?!
