I have a Humax F1CI which generally gives trouble free operation, however I have a problem with the TVE bouquet on Hotbird 11.785H, 27500, 3/4.
The receiver searches, find and stores the channels, TVE, Teledeporte, Canal 24Horas etc. but if I select the channel either the picture appears for a few seconds then freezes, or it displays a frozen picture of the previously selected channel (e.g. TMF Canal+ or whatever).
I have contacted Humax support about this and they say that they have no problem with this bouquet. Any ideas and help would be most welcome

A lot of people have problems

Its nothing to do with the outdoor equipment as I have been there

At present it is almost certain there are tuners in the field that have difficulty with receiving this frequency (Echostar have had reports of something similar with the DSB range), this has been confirmed by a change of make of receiver on one site and the problem has been eliminated.

I am almost certain however there is a link between this and some amateur transmissions at the 1200 MHz as all problems seem to emanate within the UK. The problem could be linked to the type of screening of the reeiver and or the type of tuner that is used in the units.

I will be trying a different LNB (different LO later today to see if the problem is cured by allowing the Spanish to be received on a different IF setting. If it does then there is a link with the reception difficulties at IF frequencies, or what comes down the cable after downconversion

I will keep you posted

Thanks for posting that Channel Hopper.
Humax told me that they had no problems on the same model receiver at
the factory in Ireland and suggested I try a different LNB.
I tried several, but all with the same result. I shall be most interested in your findings.

I'm sorry to say that the problem lies with the F1 CI. and its software.

Humax *are* aware of this and have told me that they are 'working on it'

You will find the same problem with a number of other channels including ARTE on E13.

I hope that you will badger Humax again in Belfast and Korea, as I think it is only if us poor users of this otherwise good machine, keep up the pressure on them that they will do something about it.

You could also join this forum where you will find many other users:

Kind regards

Dear .....

Thank you for your e-mail.

The problem is still under investigation. Unfortuantely a software
solution has not been found yet.

We are also looking into alternative soltuions. We are in contact with
Eutelsat who will hopefully be able to help us in this matter.

Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact
me.

Best Regards

As mentioned before the problem is NOT only related to Humax

Echostar 2110 has it as well

Replacing the Universal (working at )10.600 LNB with a wide band (10.750 GHz) cures it however I think there is a cheaper way

Using the Humax, go into the main install mode and selet a new satellite - any name - with the LNB set up as - non Universal and with frequency of 9.750 GHz, tone selected to off.

When you wish to tune into the bouquet, select this LNB (satellite) and put in the frequency.

The receiver will tune at a revised frequency at IF of 2035MHz as opposed to 1185 MHz and the bouquet should come in

Let me know what you get

Hello C-H

Thanks for the info, i have tried your suggestion, but regret that it has not worked.

I am getting an occasional refresh, and it could be a bit better than before, but nothing consistant.

Any point trying different combinations of LNB Freq?

Kind regards

Same here I'm afraid. We'll just have to keep pestering Humax.
You'd think that between them and Eutelsat the would resolve this problem, or is it a ploy to get us to buy new receivers!
