So, how are things around the bazaars this morning? We're in the eye of Doris at present, but even overnight it wasn't too bad. Winds were merely "stiff" and the rain not too bad. Expecting part two later, though.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Back to Doris - how's the weather where you are?
(just had the first outage - albeit very short - on Sky signals on the Zone 2 dish since I put that on the conservatory last Summer - and that's also the first outage at all on those signals for years since I put up normal 60cm dish at the end of the garden)

Quite gusty outside. No, make that very gusty. Just looking outside I can see the bushes moving quite violently.

We had plans to go over to Liverpool today. We're now rethinking said plans...

Was chucking it down with rain this morning, but, right now, light breeze with some drizzle, and looking at the weather maps, it seems that we're in a nice peaceful part of the edge of the storm, at least for the moment, it'll probably be howling just before the binmen arrive and all the wheelie bins'll be blown over tipping their contents everywhere... :-doh

Winds seem to be getting stronger here, although the sky is quite bright

Ask it to calculate the square root of minus one :)
Well, Doris Day was "quite bright" but I'm not sure that "windy Doris" has the same intellectual strength, although "she" seems to do the physical bit OK :D
PS: Glad our conservatory roof is now screwed down properly now. About 4yrs ago, some of the original screws had rusted through, and one Feb morning I came downstairs to get ready to go to work when I heard this repetitive loud banging from that direction, to then see one edge of the roof jumping up and down by about 6" in the middle. Rushed outside and threw some full 5l containers of what ever I could lay my hands on onto the roof and, phew, those held it down for some months until I could get someone to come and fix the problem (although, when I saw how they fixed it - screws straight through the polycarbonate into the wood bearer, I realised that I could have done that myself and saved £250! :().

Horrendous here ....the 1.2 pointing at 54W for air traffic is oscillating wildly ..as are other dishes ...but this one I can see out the window..
When the big gusts come ..it the dish bounces ..and the Cband lnb will oscillate vertically about 9 inches ..
Constant moaning wind interspersed with powerlful gusts ..
If my roof survives intact it will be a miracle ..
I suspect the NW is suffering some of the worst effects of the high power westerlies ..and this has been continuous since anout 9:30AM..

...update ..
I swear it's getting stronger ..
I've just seen the 1.2 shift through about 8 degrees EL ...but is on a very springy U shaped wall bracket ..so bounced back ..
How many of these it can handle before it rips itself to bitz ...or worse ..bricks out of the wall
?

Just tried to open my front door to go to work ..
It took all my strength to stop it being ripped from it's hinges ..
Closed it and came back inside ..
I may not bother with work today..
cest la vie..
In the meantime ...the VHF dipole is flat to the roof now ..the upright pole having been bent over by the wind ..
and this has little surface area ..
I dread to see what damge has been done outside ..
but I can't open a door to find out..
