Has anybody any experience of the following LNBs?
MTI Supreme Line AK54-XT2BL .2dB Quad Universal LNB
Titanium 2nd Edition TQSG .2dB Quad LNB
If so what are they like and which is best in fringe areas?
TIA

I have an invacom quad, which agve me 20% - 30% increase in signal strenth (compared to a local cheap one). I am in Pakistan and receiving Hotbird so right on the fringe of the signal.

Highly recommended

I've tried the single versions of both of these, and neither was much good- and they're not 0.2dB, it is impossible.

I'm with stuzeekuk - there's nothing to beat the Invacom quad (except maybe the Invacom quattro, but that's a specialist beast).

I know that the invacom is the best but this is a freebie that I am doing for a couple of pensioners and I want to spend as little as poss. I was hoping that one of the above may be quite good.

The single Smart Titanium I tested was good on horizontal 2D, very weak on vertical. The MTI was the other way around. Whether the quads are the same, I have no idea. Also depends on the dish size you're working with, if all channels are OK 24/7 there's not much between them. Normally 2D verticals are stronger in Spain, horizontals weak, so you have to use your judgement.

Hi Billnot

I'm interested ..

surely the performance of a quattro depends on the quality of the Multi-switch you put with it.

In my experience, it can help with Astra 2D reception in this fringe area - Cyprus, and it definitely performs better than when sharing feeds than a quad, but Invacom quality control seems to be VERY erratic ( one lnb can be better than others ) and now they are like hen's teeth because they're manufacturing in China and supplies haven't come on stream yet.

Agree that ports two / thre seem to be often better performing.

For a long time this lnb has been the "king".... I'm surprised there hasn't been a challenger.

Unless someone knows different ...

Yes, the performance of a quattro plus multiswitch depends on the quality of both LNB and multiswitch. Obviously, multiswitch systems are much less common than quads, but a multiswitch system is what I now have - I ran out of feeds and changed my Invacom quad for a quattro plus a Jesmay 8 way multiswitch. Performance for 2D is much the same, but it is with our bête noir, the north beam, that it has made a lot of difference. Channel 4 24 hours, no problema.

I haven't had any problem getting quads this summer, especially given that there has been a whole rush of failures.

I agree about Invacom quality control. One local retailer even tests them and charges extra for the best!!! :-Nooo

Invacom have been manufacturing in China for quite some time, I believe.
Port 3 on the quad C120 is always the best for 2D for some reason.
I disagree on the last point.
Quality control on the Invacom C120 is very, very good, I buy a large number of these and have only ever noticed small variations. The recent batch which I've had in the past 3-4 months was the best ever for weak 2D.
Performance on twins, singles and the 'H' versions (LNBf) is average at best, though.

has anyone noticed the shortage of quad invacoms on the market lately? I have been told due to some problems with the LNB,invacom has stopped production till they sort out the problem...
Anyone has more info on this?

Yes, they are definitely getting in short supply. I was told this because they had switched production to China, but that can't be right as they switched some time ago.

Sorry, snap, but I have had a couple of really bad quads in the last few months. Luckily my dealer took them back. Combining the two themes, I think the QC issue started when they started being sourced in China.

I also had few bad ones lately...
To my knowledge as the returns increased invacom decided to stop production to investigate the issue & fix it..
