Hi Guys,

I undertook installing Sky+ in the uk. I fixed up the dish using, my sat meter. I am unable to see the TV for the levels of the Sky+ box.

After i finished i checked the readings on the box.

Input 1 is

Signal Strength 90%
Quality 80%

Input 2 is

Signal Strength 90%
Quality 70%-80%

When i record on both inputs, the Quality on Input 2 drops to about 60%-70%.

Is this enough for bad weather or does the dish require some fine tunning. Since installing here in the uk, i have been hoping for a sharp shower. Hey its been so dry ( not that i am complaining) I am just worried its not quite as strong as it should be. I have swopped the feeds around and i am still getting the same readings. i know that the boxes arnt the most reliable for readings, but i just wanted to check this was ok. I have looked about on the net, but i cant find anything which covers this exactly as i need.

I have the LNB skewed i think at about 11 degrees. I have tried turning it a lil more but does seem to make alot of difference. I have a thompson sky+ 180gb i think.

Thanks for the replys and help

regards

That all sounds pretty reasonable, but as you so rightly say, the readings on the box are a rough guide only, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, just wait for some rain. :)

Many thanks Rolfw

Just wanted to check, I guess i am one of these people who like things to be just soooo.

I like to see a full bar of quality, dont wanna loose that all important football match he he.

I was just worried that Input 2 was a little low. I guess i ll have to do a rain dance and see what happens.

If i can get a lift into space i ll hang my dish on Astra, maybe i ll get 100%. Gunna need some cable though.

cheers for the advice

Input 2 signal strength reading is the last channel you recorded from, not the default transponder which input 1 measures on the signal test screen.
The signal you have is quite Ok, no need to worry.
