Hello everybody! Just arrived new here and need some help!!!

Today i bought a second hand sattelite receiver from Echostar, an AD3000IP (Not with Viacces). The LNB head that comes with it is Echostar Full BAnd LNB, Model BKU2353 and TYPE ILNBTBXXX. It has an Chapparal mechanical polarizer (three wire system). Can somebody maybe tell me what my LNB settings in the menu should be. Or maybe give me some specs or tips??? I am really newbie...

Greetz,
Remon Berends

and welcome to the forum Impact. Mechanical polarisors are not my forte in other words I know nothing about them but I am sure someone will be able to help.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

The BK2353 is from MTI and is a full band unit with two local oscillators of 9.75 and 10.75 GHz

Should work very well with the Echostar as long as you have the right wires between dish and receiver and the polariser works without getting caught up in the spiders residue

Send a couple of pictures attached to your next response

Greetz,

Assuming the colour coding of your Polarotor wiring is red, white and black (usually the case), for your Echostar -

Red connected to +5V terminal

Black to GND

White to SKEW

So this is where i am experimenting with at this moment. Hopefully i will get it working. The cables are only mounted like this for testing, i know there should be better connection and shielding. Also looking for new motor, but only when the rest is working like it should.

Well that are my pictures for now.

If you have any reactions, don;t hesitate

Forgot to say that connecting of the polariser is no problem, it is working good i think, because i hear the little motor turning. But setting the fiollowing menu is a little more difficult for me:

And then specially items 2, 3, 7, 8 and 9. Maybe somebody can give me some hints ???

Welcome to the forum and to the Echostar owners club. The 3000's are cracking receivers, but boy do you have a steep learning curve over the next few weeks!

I have set up a dedicated Echostar 3000 thread for users of these lovely receivers to help each other:

Set the LNB type up in Menu 6 1 for each satellite first. Should the dish be motorised then obviously all will be the same type.

Then set the LNB type to
Change item 2: 9750
Change item 3: 10750
If your lnb has 22khz tone switching then leave 7 as it is, and change 9 to on.

8: is only relevant to installations where you have access to c-band dishes, so if you arent playing with them turn it off.

Personally Id junk that polorotator and fit a nice simple universal lnb!

You want to trade that Chaparral polarizer to a new Invacom C120 flange LNB?

I need another one to try out.

How old is it by the way? the bearings could be worn....

Think it is maybe 7 years old allready. I will first try to get the receiver work with this combination. Leave the disc unmotarized and get Astra working. Then slowly i want to try more features. Maybe i will trade the LNB then.

It sounds to me that you're describing a WR75 wideband LNB. They normally use voltage switching of bands so you should select 13/18V for LNB Freq. band control in the LNB Settings menu of the Echostar.

New question from the same Newbie.. ;-)

Am i right when i say that when a standard digital offset dish has to put in an angle of 29 degrees that my dish has to be in a differnt angle, because mine is not an offset dish but the LNB is mounted in the center and not under an angle??

Thanx, Remon

The Chaparral feedhorn is for a prime focus dish and is mounted towards the centre of the dish at the focal point.

Yes thanks for reply, but that was obvious to me allready, only what i wanted to ask is that for Astra for example here is recomended an angle of 29 degrees for the dish if you have a standard offset dish. Is this the same with the dish i have??

I misunderstood your original question.

Yes, for Astra 19 East in Arnhem the elevation for either an offset or prime focus dish will be 29 degrees. However the offset dish will appear as though it is pointing lower down towards the horizon relative to the prime focus dish.
