I have been thinking over the last few days about TV programmes that are not on anymore and programmes that are still on but prefer the early days better, I was thinking will they ever be shown again (re-run) on satellite??
here is a list, some of you will remember most of them;

Programmes That Are Not On Anymore;
Brookside (TV Soap - CH4)
London's Burning (TV Drama - ITV1)
Steel River Blues (programme that took over from London's Burning)
Streets Apart (TV Comedy - ITV1)
Staying Alive (TV Drama - ITV1)
Sons And Daughters (TV Soap - BBC1, Possibly ITV1)
Twin Peaks (TV Sci-Fi - Channel uncertain)
The Avengers (TV Sci-Fi - Channel uncertain)
Watching (TV Comedy - ITV1)

Programmes That Are Still On But Prefer The Early Years;
Neighbours (TV Soap - BBC1, Now on five)
Home And Away (TV Soap - ITV1, Now on five)
Coronation Street (TV Soap - ITV1)
Eastenders (TV Soap - BBC1)
Casualty (Especially Series 6) (TV Drama - BBC1)

If you want any of these programmes, then there is always the BBC Shop who might have it.
When I wanted the Singing Detective so bad, I ordered it in DVD and enjoyed it a lot better than when it was transmitted by our local TV station.

Series 4, 5, 6 and the first episode of series 7 of The Avengers have recently been broadcast on BBC4. They showed the last of the B/W series and then first colour series with Emma Peel (Diana Rigg). They also showed the very first of the Tara King episodes where Emma hands over to Tara, but no further ones.

They didn't show any of the early studio bound episodes with Ian Hendry (David Keel) (only a couple survive anyway) or Honor Blackman (Cathy Gale) but some were shown a couple of years ago.

For some reason they ran through all the episodes and then ran them again! Some classic episodes there; The Cybernauts, Return of the Cybernauts, A Surfeit of H20, etc. I could go on and on.

Probably not going to be shown now for a good few years I would think.

Incidentally, talking of classic TV series, The Prisoner is being reshown on ITV4 at 8:00pm Wednesdays at the moment. You might be interested...

AVENGERS STOP PRESS

Just noticed that The Avengers is running on BBC4 again on Friday evenings at 11:30.

Tonight's (18th April) episode is the first episode of series 5 and the first to be filmed in colour. Titled "From Venus with Love" this is the one where people are found dead with their hair and the surrounding area bleached white.

A great episode to start your Avengers viewing. Ignore the creaky special effects, it was pretty good 41 years ago! Instead, concentrate on the wonderful interplay between Steed and Mrs Peel and quirky script.

Why isn't "Not The Nine O'Clock News" repeated? Has it ever been reshown?
