My DB500 is really giving me grief now. Whenever I select a channel on another sat. the light on the motor goes out and the dish stops. Only way to get it alive again is a reboot.

Any ideas? 30W gave the problem originally or is this a red-herring? Ideas or suggestions?

Gonna upgrade to Gemini 2.2 now as soon as I read how to do it. Why now?! Gonna miss the football... :(

Got the new image flashed. It is now at the "scan a transponder" page.

"drive to zero" didn't do anything, the dish looks like it is pointing 30W. Gave up and went to bed after getting nowhere, will try again tonight. Couldn't find my mulitmeter but intend to check the output voltage from my psu. Anyone know what the max voltage a DB can take (my laptop psu is 19.4v ;) ).

:)

You should be OK to check the IP address using the 'Menu' button - 'Setup' - 'Expert Setup' - 'Communications Setup'

I got to the expert setup (didn't click "exit" enough times). Have reset the IP and reloaded my old settings using DBedit.

But selected BBC1 (28.2E) and got a frozen image. reboot, no pic and lots of "switch not found".

Gone to expert setup and motor setup> transponder scan on 28.2 - "All known transponders have been tried.."

Do you think the dish has slipped?

The green light on the motor still seems to go out (like when I did all this back in March).

Suggestions? rescan each sat using "drive to zero" as south?

Obi Wan is fighting strong against the darkside tonight ;)

ps in Motor Setup, if I use the "drive to position", how can I tell which sat. it is?

When this happened to me the cable had disconnected from the LNB.

Check as many connections as you can - does the dish move when you select a satellite?

If it does - have you a satellite meter? Check the signal in case the dish has dropped or moved.

The Dreambox receivers can be a pain, generally they are OK (IMHO).

The motor moves if the green light is "on". otherwise no (no power)- and as power is sent bythe DB I'm inclined to blame the DB.

I'll check all the cable connections tomorrow when I see them.

Cheers for all the suggestions...

I don't suppose I can use a PC to do everything the DB does (got a spare P4 2.8)?

Not really - not convinced the DB is at fault - I have had all the problems you mention and they have been resolved using a box reset - a new image and a motor reset....

Don't give up hope yet.

Thanks for the support :)

Since the DB when awol last week I backed up my settings using DBEdit, flashed Gemini 2.2, reloaded old settings.

Still had problems moving the dish (ie green light off). I now have 2 sats listed for each sat:

e.g. 19.2 new found
19.2 providers
19.2 services

new found has no channels listed.

Will check the cables outside tomorrow.

Lack of IHAD Manager for 2.2 is not good news though...!!

:)

Does this happen after a flash erase?

If not - try a flash erase

I'm not sure, I think the new found were from the flashed image and the other 2 from my old settings.

Try a flash erase on start up - can't do any damage.
