I am just about to buy a new Echostar receiver to replace my old AD-3000IP which keeps losing channels.

I was wondering if i should buy the Echostar 3000IP VA or stick with the same model that has just gone wrong on me? What would you recommend?

Is the 3000IP VA model installed in the same way as the 3000IP?

I would first of all recommend you get your old one repaired (flash chip replaced) - see my answer on that to your post elsewhere on this board.
Then consider the new DVR7000 if your budget will stand it. That has a vastly superior software as well as harddisk recording, MP3 player and 4-unit "quatro" multiremote.
