Please excuse the total n00b and helpless beginners question. (I did have a look around to see if this question had been answered before)

I have had Sky digital for about 1½ years. Things have worked fine up until recently. During heavy rain the signal has always been intermittent which, I believe, is normal. However, since the latest storms I have had intermittent signals on normal days. It happens once or twice a day. My (novice) theory tells me that the dish needs adjustment. Could this be the case?

If yes, then I could call Sky and have them fix it but something tells me it would be the most expensive option. I didn't sign up for extended warranty. (Just believe pretty much all extended warranties on products are bad deals) Who to call instead? Can I fix it myself? or what is the best approach?

As I didn't get any response to my last question I will rephrase :-ohmy:

Once or twice every evening I get blocking and distorted sounds. Sometimes it goes away by itself, other times it will freeze the picture. I have found that quickly changing channel and then back again seems to "clear" the problem.

This is particular annoying when being out one evening and recording something. Obviously it is not possible to change channels then.

Do the symptoms give anyone ideas about the cause?

What are you using to watch it, and which channels?
If it's an MR cam on Taquilla 19.2E, then it's a known problem.

Please give us the full run-down on all hardware, software, location and signal received, and we might be able to give you some ideas.

Have merged the two posts BobbyZa, what make and model of digibox do you have?

The chances are that a bit of tweaking will cure the problem, but a bit more equipment detail will help as well.

Thanks for replying.

I have a Sky digital installation (not Sky+) and never touched the dish myself. Digibox is a Panasonic TU-DSB40.

Don't know what to say about software, location and signal received?

Any ideas?

location=where abouts are you, signal received=what is the signal strength you are receiving, software=the version numbers of the box that you are using.all this information can be found in the services menu of your digibox. if it was a sky install then the chances are your gonna have to re-adjust the dish yourself to improve reception.sky are well known for just finding a signal and leaving it at that.good on clear days with no wind or rain.not much good in the european climate.

Thanks for all your thoughts.

Problem sadly not solved yet.:confused
I tested the cordless phone thing suggested above but that didn't make a difference in my case.

When I do a signal test from the "services" menu I get the following results:
Signal strength: ~70%
Signal quality: ~80-90% (changes constantly)

Digibox: Panasonic TU-DSB40 (model no: 5.0.X)
version: 0F0501
EPG software version 3.2.11
Location: Central London

Could it be overheating?
When I put my hand on top of the unit it feels warm. It sits on top of a VCR and a DVD(+HD) recorder.
