Went out today with a fta receiver and fine tuned the dish myself and got the signal quality on BBC 2 up from 20% to 65% just by increasing the elevation by maybe 1/2 a degree, what a result!!!

hello nick,
there are many things you can do to make this signal better.
old cable and long length.
if the length from the dish to the box is to long it will eat signal.
cable diamater if the conductor is smaller that 1.13 mm than you will loose signal.
old lnb most lnb's are arround .3 db noise figure .1 are the new ones and some are with higher outputs.
biger dish going from 88 to 1.20 is a big jump as well.

if the lnb and the cable is good and the lenth is not too long as well try a small line amp.
this 15 to 20 db line amp will boost the signal as well.
cracked cable were water got in will cause a lot of problems.
these are just some of the things to inprove the bbc in your area.
keep us informed

Hi Ralph,

Thanks for the reply,

Couple of questions... What would you consider a long cable run ? Mine is about 20 meters, is that long ? Would a signal booster be worth considering ?

Regarding my LNB, it is about 5 years old and it is made by sharp, do you think one of these black ultra LNB's from ...... ( forgotten the name of the company) would improve my signal?

Thanks Nick

20m is not long at all, and should cause no problem for satellite grade cable.

The LNB make you are thinking of is the Inverto Black ultra.

I did find that this LNB did improve my signal on Badr, might improve yours, might not.
