Whether i mount it to /mnt or to /hdd i can't record the channel, it says recording failed due to inaccessible storage

Is this supposed to work suro or did you just try it?
When you install a hdd inside DB, it is initialised and formatted for DB OS use. But you have mounted a disk initialised differently so it wont have the right root directories to point to that folder "recorded movies" will it? or will it?
If you punch the menu button and toggle to files and press OK, can you see root and hdd and recorded movies?

It had to work and now it works, the problem is solved.

I just had to create a folder called "movie" - It's the default place dreambox saves the videos.

Thanks for replying :-)

Hey, that's very slick.

I bet you'd love to write a how-to for us?

I reckon you'd have a lot of people wanting to read it...

From the posts I have read it would seem to be a solution for everyone whose DB HD's are filling up with movies at a rate of knots.

well....
a terabyte = 1000 gigabytes
next is
petabyte = 1,048,576 gigabytes
then
xabyte = 1,073,741,824 gigabytes
then
zettabyte = 1,099,511,627,776 gigabytes
then
yottabyte = 1,024 zettabytes or 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 bytes :D

Brilliant - whilst ars*ing around on the net looking at this mad storage guff, I come across this...

This company apparently "...employ a 1.5 Petabyte storage network for the storage of all old and new public television and radio content in digital format. Within the next year, most Dutch public television content will be pulled directly out of this database during broadcast."... which is quite interesting.

Even more interesting is the fact that somebody with the IQ of an amoeba called the company NOB!
