I have had a Fibo 90cm dish for over 10 years now. Connected a V-Box to it about a couple of years ago. But now the motor has had it's day and I am looking to replace the motor unit for something more up to date, preferably with a built in DiSEqC capability so that I can loose the V-Box.

Any suggestions on how to do this would be greatfully received. But if repair is the only option, then the bit that seems to have broken is related to the sensor feedback, as my V-Box is reporting Er2 (i.e. No feedback from sensor - it certainly hasn't reached the hardware limits).

most likely need a new reed switch or the vbox is finished. you can change to a diseqc motor, you will need to get hold of or make a fixed mount to bolt to the motor stub.

It could be a relay in the V-box. I've got a Technomate V-box that does that. It just needs a good bang and that clears it. If it is the reed switch in the motor that is faulty it's just a case of swapping that over. And if you want to go with a DiSEqC motor you just need to get yourself a fixed mount, which you should be able to get here, _http://www.satmueller.de/

Wod, not sure how the relay would figure into this issue. I can hear it happily clicking away. What actually happens is that when pressing the East/West button, the dish moves a bit then stops with the Er2 message. Pressing the button again, causes the dish to move a bit more, again stoping with the Er2 message.

So my guess is that the dish can move freely, but the optical sensor is indicating no movement, so the V-Box's safety mechanism issues the stop command and displays Er2.

Huevos, can confirm that the Mueller site does not work with an iPad, but is OK with a PC.

Looks like a good lead. Thank you.

sounds like the vbox is thinking it's moved too far and triggered any limits you had set.

I guess you have tried the obvious reset of the vbox etc, sometimes fixes this.

the website doesn't work on iPhone either.

Is it optical or reed switch? It is pretty easy to test which part is faulty. Just send 36v (even 12V would do) up to the motor and use a continuity tester or multimeter to see if there is a pulse on the sensor cables as the motor is driven. If there is the V-box is broken, if not the sensor is broken. Last time I had the symptoms you describe it was the V-box. The power supply in the V-box is always active and as there is no fan to keep things cool so eventually it just cooks itself.

Turns out that either the plastic drive gear has got bigger, or that the hole in the frame through which the drive gear must be passed through to engage the teeth has got smaller. Just putting the drive gear in place on it's own without the motor makes the disk very difficult to move, even when trying to move the dish by it's edge. Its the same story with some spare drive gears I have. Unbelievably it looks like the hole in the base of the frame has got smaller, causing the gear to cease and the motor to burn out. Unfortunately I only discovered this after purchasing a new motor and a new V-Box, and yes the new motor has now also been burnt out.

adobe does not support iphone and ipad , i bought a e-z mount from satmuller last year it cost about 75 euro's with postage. phone them, i phoned them, went on to there answer machine, they called me back, was impressed with there company, but the mount when fitted is offset from centre, i went to screw-fix bought a 100 pack of washers and centred the mount got my 90 running with a dark motor

I know.

Regarding the issue. It seems that my dish shrunk. No I don't believe it either, but the fix confirmed the finding.

The fix being to cannibalise one of the burnt out motors for it's drive shaft. Use said drive shaft in an electric drill to hold a new drive cog wheel. Sand down the cog below it's teeth. Fitted sanded cog on a new motor, fit motor to dish. And hey presto it worked and has been working for some months now.

Hi folks. I know tread is old. But, just in case somebody needs brand new motor for Fibo55 or Fibo90, Gunnar fro Norway sells them for price of 35EUR+postage. He was working on the factory producing those great antennas, so he left with some spares at his disposal.
