Can anyone recommend a a good receiver to replace a Manhattan Skyline 1000 for primarily receiving FTA Italian channels (RAI, RETE4, Italia 1 etc...) which I think are all on Hotbird 13E?, but if it could also pick up other satellites that would be good.

Basic features

Easy to use menu's/navigation
Easy channel searching and setup.
Teletext/EPG
Fast channel switching
Software upgradable over the air/RS232
Reliable/Reputable manufacturer

I'm looking to spend £100-£200, I have had a look around on the net and they seem to start at around £70 but I don't really want something too budget with poor build etc...

If anyone could also recommend a good online retailer with quick delivery that would also be good, as its for my parents their receiver has just gone bang and they are going a bit stir crazy without Italian TV.

Thanks in advance

A Fortec Star or a Technomate are good choices. Get a monobloc lnb and you can have 19E and 13E on an 80cm dish

Technomate TM-1000 range should fit your needs - the FTA model (TM-1000D) is cheap, but pretty reliable, I think. It's also got a pretty straightforward setup, and is easy on the eyes. I don't know where you are in the UK but I used Satellite Superstore (stick the words together and add a www and a com to the beginning and the end!) and can't say I had any grumbles with them. They're in the Newcastle area by the way.

Thank you both for your help, I think I am going to get a TM-1000D, I don't know exactly what type of LNB is currently fitted will this matter or do I need to try and find out to ensure it is compatible?

Any universal LNB will be sufficient, but if you are wanting 19E and 13E you need a monoblock.

Thanks Guys for your help, thought I would let you know I got a TM-1000D yesterday & up and running in around 5 mins, very easy setup and didn't even need to refer to the manual, which is a bonus.

I am now looking at the monoblock LNB as this sounds like a good cheap upgrade. I do have a question however:

Is there anything worthwhile watching on 19E? I am particularly interested in English or Italian.
