or words to that effect.

The usual spiel on many documents, from government departments down to clamping companies.

I assume that they mean 'pen to paper' , but if the document also contains an email address I would rather save the cost of trees, wrist-ache, ink and the stamp, plus of course the chance of it getting 'mislaid' or delayed in the post, resulting in the crossing of an important deadline.

So would a legal definition of 'made in writing' include the PC keyboard ? Afterall, it is little more than a ribbonless typewriter.

Thanks in advance.

Well, unless it actually said "by hand" or "in your own handwriting", I'd think an email would be ok.

A bit OT but here, when you apply for a job, (even the lowest of jobs) most firms insist your "lettre de motivation" (or application) is written by hand. I seem to remember that for the more important positions French firms still engage a graphologist.

Thanks.

For this particular piece of correspondence, they will see exactly the type of individual they are dealing with from the content, no handwriting required.
