93 years old, a stalwart of the BBC, both radio and television.

Obituary: Richard Baker

I recall him most reading out the news in Monty Python sketches, but I'm sure he was also in other comedy cameos, Spike Milligan or the Goodies perhaps.

The first face that popped up when Dad bought a TV in the '50s. BBC was the only transmission that we could receive in our neck of the woods, despite trying for ITV (just ghosting in the fog despite two paralled Yagis on the chimney).

Grandma hadn't seen a TV, and when she came round, she was frightened that the likes of Baker and co. were watching and listening to her o_O

R.I.P Richard ( Dickie to his pals).

One of the first faces I recall reading the news (along with Kenneth Kendall). Seemed absolutely unflappable.

RIP Richard.
