The story of print mature content's rise and fall in popular culture is told in BBC Two's thee-part documentary s_x, Mags And Cyberspace, starting on Sunday, October 19.

It takes a look at the Eighties and Nineties, when magazines such as Loaded promoted a laddish lifestyle that included mature content but also beer and cars. Turning its attention to today, the programme
shows how technology has sent the consumption of mature content back underground, as consumers download straight from the net. With the mainly female mature content stars now in control of their own sites and the means of publishing mature content changed for ever.

This first programme looks back to the changing attitude towards print mature content, through the burgeoning empires of Hefner, Guccioni and Flint.
