No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

I have the "UltraII" version of that SanDisk SSD in my gaming PC, damned good deal for the size... :)

I decided that as I never use the DVD player on my laptop I would replace it with a 2.5" drive caddy. That was easy to fit and needed no setting up and cost £4. What amazes me is that, I did not install all the Sony software that was piggybacked upon the original O/S (8.1) The noisy fan whirring that has blighted the laptop since day one has stopped completely, the only downside being some utilities I no longer have but am sure others are available and just as good. The annoying part is that I was never able to register this laptop on the Sony website as according to the site a Sony Vaio SVF153A1YM does not exist. Another benefit of this setup is that a fully charged battery despite running two drives now lasts 6 hours as opposed to 1.5 hours...go figure cos I am not able to

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Certainly the fans on both m/cs run less now than before (although cleaning them out with a can of compressed air when I changed the disks, also helped to reduce the need for them to run).

As far as battery life is concerned, the one in the main laptop doesn't last that much longer but that's probably because the SSD replaced the original HDD and I added a secondary Hybrid 1TB HDD in place of the CD/DVD unit. OTOH, the battery in the small laptop certainly lasts longer.

Both m/cs are much faster than before, especially during the boot sequences.

Mine is 3 seconds to password and another two to full desktop, previously 2-3 minutes was normal, it is just chalk and cheese, I do appreciate I do not have even a third of the programs I had installed previously however, it is crazy fast

I have an awful lot of stuff installed on the main laptop. It used to take around 3-5 mins to boot to the desktop which came down to about 30s when the SSD was first fitted but much had not been reinstalled, but that has risen to around 70-80s now everything and more is installed - and I can live with those numbers.

The fan in the little laptop has started rattling - had to order a couple of used spares (one with heatsink) for £9, but it's going to be a pain in the proverbial to replace it because just getting inside this m/c is difficult

My laptop's fan started rattling a lot too a couple months back, turned out that it was just falling apart, after dismantling it, cleaning & lubing the motor and reassembling with superglue, the fan's been nice and quiet again, though it too was a PITA to extract from the laptop, being a Lenovo it's built like a brick outhouse and well armoured inside...
