My Satellite Setup
Humax and Echostar receivers, Dragon, two dishes, one fixed 100cm dish pointing at Hotbird, and a 90cm motorised dish; plus a rubbish DVD recorder and cool DVD players, and lots of cables!! Oh, yeah, and a video recorder - best invention yet!!
As you know I have a motorised dish. Up until yesterday, I had my twin LNB, with one cable leading to my bedroom and one in the dining room.

I decided since I am spending more time in my upstairs office I'd extend the cable from downstairs to my office.

Everything worked out okay, until I removed the scart lead from my TV, and the signal to the satellite went off.

It didn't make sense. As soon as put the scart lead back in the TV, the full signal strength appeared on the sat receiver again.

So now, even though I only wanted to connect my sat receiver to my VCR via scart, I now have to keep the sat receiver ALSO connected to the TV or otherwise I lose my satellite signal.

It's weird, I cannot figure the the skart lead effects sat signal strength. :confused

Sounds like a dodgy earth, and that for some reason the earth is being made through the scart.

in a similar sort of way, your problem could relate to mine too.

from my motorised dish the coax goes into the IN on the Dreambox, the OUT to the sky digi box.

setup like this, i cannot power the motor on my dish to change satellites???? yet if i unplug the OUT part of the coax (the loop between the Dreambox and sky box) its motorised dish full speed ahead again?

at first i though it might be power going from both boxes confusing the motor.... but even with the digi box turned off its the same?

its got to be an earthing issue, i wonder if i strip the outer copper wire from the coax making the loop, it will stop the problem..... will try it tomorrow

wierd?

No, the Digibox powers the LNB even when in standby, this is how it receives the wakeup signal to phone home. :)
