Not sure if you can help. Looking for a 4.2.2 receiver. Octagon were very unhelpful and said ‘No’.
Is it possible to purchase one of these please?

Thanks in advance.

if you can stream across your lan just access it using vlc player - I had 4:2:2 working 10 years ago on the first dreambox.

I can only remember one satellite receiver, designed to open 4:2:2, not due to it being difficult, just due to the cost, and that was the AZ Box, which didn't seem to make it.
There are a few videos, on youtube, showing how to view 4:2:2 using your PC and VLC player.

Quali-TV was a 4:2:2 capable receiver.

Yes the Quali-TV only DVB-S & MPEG-2 in 4:2:2 mine lasted about 2 years before I scrapped it in favour of the AZ Premium+ that did DVB-S2 in 4:2:2 but only MPEG-2 OK for about 3 years then with MPEG-4 & codec made the AZBox Premium+ & AZBox Elite unable to clear most feeds in 4:2:2 due to the transmission changes.

No chipset used in any commercial STB supports or will ever support 4:2:2, so simply forget it!
The next generation receivers will probably have CPUs so powerful that will decode 4:2:2 via software like PCs. Until then only PC streaming. Don't even wish for a 4:2:2 capable STB at the moment, you'll only end up losing some brain cells at best!

That was DVB-S only wasnt it?

Yes it was, nonetheless it was 4:2:2 capable, albeit with a not so friendly menu structure.

I heard rumours that the Quali-TV receiver was popular in the early days of in running betting shortly after its introduction on the betfair exchange by punters who used it for those sports feeds that were in DVB-S 4:2:2

The price of these units can vary considerably depending on what licenses are enabled. The mpeg4 4:2:2 option is not enabled by default in the base model. Anyone considering purchasing one of these units second hand should check the web interface licensing tab to see which licenses are enabled to be sure it meets their need.

There are a few listed on eBay at the moment but the licence status for mpeg4 4:2:2 is not indicated in the listings.

It might be possible to purchase the mpeg4 4:2:2 licencse from Ericcson, however, that may depend if the unit has reached "end of life" status?

Of the RX8200 units available from the links above, the second link from the Malaysian based seller seems to offer the best opportunity? These units are fitted with 4 x F connector RF input ports and after conversion to GBP the purchase price excluding shipping is just under a bag of sand.
