Came across this on alsat forum and thought i'd would post on here if its of any interest to anyone to sign it

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Abolish the
requirement of planning permission on large private satellite
dish installations

Satellite dishes that measure more than 100cm in diameter
require local council planning permission to use them on your
property. The current system of applying for planning
permission is ill suited to this subject and should be
abolished. This system is a waste of resources in local
planning offices, resources that could be put to better use on
other issues.

There is no law that is against huge trampolines being placed
in gardens!

I propose that satellite dishes under 180cm in diameter should
not require planning permission if they are ground mounted.
Ground mounted meaning, not attached to any wall of a building
and not mounted on a groundpole where the absolute top of the
dish is higher than 10 foot.

In addition the 100cm maximum size limited for wall mounted
installations should be increased to 120cm.

These proposals need not apply to installations in area's of
natural beauty or those on buildings that are grade listed.

LOL, it is strangely coincidental that Showtime on Nilesat requires a 1.8m dish. ;)

It's a next season thing. :)

could make some up but that would be cheating

yes more needed

but more importantly if the petition passed would we still be ok with 1.8m dish in garden as I'm sure there would be some idiot of a neighbour and complain but they can put a massive shed up or something

sod the law i might put up a 1.2m dish as my local has one and he said no ones complained at all so as he dont seem the type do anything to rules

does a satellite dish really bother you, it doesn't me obivously lol

stupid planning laws living with my mum atm because shes not well and the neighbours got extension built which blocks light coming into the kitchen but council didn't do anything as before you say if you have any objection to it and she did but they just passed it anyway like wtf is planning law for then

I think the lack of signatures underlines the degree of apathy amongst forum visitors. This has been posted on pretty much every major satellite forum and the best that can be scraped up is 42.

I think the need to enter address is panicking people. :confused
Also because the pay-as-you-drive petition got nowhere there is apathy..

So.. Either people with large dishes few and far between or they are "planned up" already or they are scared they may get the knock or people just don't want big dishes..:-Nooo

What has come to light is the Government advisors suggested dropping the limit to 60cm when the proposal to "up the limit" from 90cm was laid out.
Aparently you only need 60cm dish for DVB-S broadcasts :-rofl2

The reason for main reason for bring the level up was for Internet connection to businesses ???:-rofl2

Yes, I guess there could be several reasons, but people d tend to sit back and let others do the work. :)

As long as the dish is not fixed E.G on a ground stand /non penetrating ground mount or bolted to a few patio slabs which are not cemented down down or a wooden pallet you do not need planning as the dish is not fixed

I have never had planning permission for any of my dishes from 1.2 to 1.8m, even when I were living in a council house. Most people don't know you require planning permission.

Well it really all depends on the council where you reside and your neighbours as they have the power...
