people, i do not know if there is anyone out there with the patience and dexterity to put me in the right direction about setting up my satellite system from scratch. i would be grateful if all the techy stuff is reduced to the bearest minimum.
1. single lnd vs dual/ quad
2. dish size for any of the lnb types
3. best recievers the ultimate mac daddy of all recievers

it is my intention to get these stuff ready one

Which satelites and channels are you interested in receiving? For £300 you could buy a small motorised system, but would have to install it yourself.

I spent under £300 for DB500, Motek HH motor, 85 clear dish, cable, lnb and cables to AV amp. Also spent many hours setting it up (with the generous help of this forum :) )

i was hoping to get all the "getable" channels. sky channels, including sports and movies channels ( really important, as i like my movies a lot) please advice as appropriate. right, i also want to know if it is possible to get all the satelites at the same time or i have to face the southern sky like i have read in the forum somewhere. also, is it advisable to get a quad lnb and connect each feed to a seperate box. such as sky box or different satelite boxes for seperate rooms. please give me an idea of components to get, like lnb, dish box and cables

The ONLY way you will get Sky Sports and Movies is to subscribe to Sky.
The same goes for the rest of the Sky package, except for some FTA channels.

Sky encryption is secure. You CANNOT use receiver patches of any kind to get the service for free.

You either use a digibox, or use a Dreambox or dragon cam. Both need a valid subscriber card, and there are extensive threads about both on the forum.

As Rolf, go for motorised dish. 0.3 LNB is one of the best,
Dish...An 80cm picks up most of the best sats 30w,1w,19e,13e,28e.
Box.. (Digital ST:cool:.Pick one you can Upload new Patches (emu) too,

DONT even think about patching and cams until you have the system operational on the fta channels on your intended satellites. All you will do is completely confuse yourself if anything stops working.

Dont try to run before you can walk. ;)

The software revision is probably correct for that particular model, as it looks like its a 2002 model. You can do some research into possible patches whilst you are getting the dish aligned and the system operational.
