Hi all :)

Until recently, I've been using the Technomate Linux Box (TM-600) until it suddenly died out on me; now I'm looking for an alternative and came across the TM-6800. Since I'm aiming to receive the Arabic channels at Badr 4 (26.0e), I would prefer one with a sensitive tuner. Technomate claims that it has a sensitive tuner, but I'm not sure how sensitive it is.

If anyone has it, is it sensitive enough to receive weak signals such as Badr 4?

I'm using a 1 meter motorised dish.

Thanks :)

Having installed a good hand full of 6800's, the tuners seem to perform well on weaker signals, although Badr4 shouldn't be a problem in Kensington with a 100cm dish. Note, the TM6800 isn't a linux based receiver :)

The tm 6800 super has a more sensitive tuner than the tm 1000 and is also better than my vantage x200.

Thanks :)

In comparison to the Comag SL100HD (apparently Comag tuners are really good...) which would you think would be better to get considering reception of weaker signals?

So is the TM XXXX "Super"family the solution for fringe areas? I want to tune Astra2D from Valencia and no idea of wich tuner to buy... In my case the most improtan feature is the sensitivity. Any recommendation?

If we compare the 6800HD with the 5300D then in my opinion, based on the displayed signal strength and quality, the 5300D has higher readings.

Both these receivers can be fed from the same LNB and the cable run to the 5300D is about 10 metres longer than the one to the 6800D.

I have the TM6800HD (not the super) connected to a 1m Triax dish (TD110) and can get badr4 pretty much all the time, excluding heavy rain. Also got the Inverto Black Ultra LNB, which seemed to help a bit too.
