Hi cuhullainn. I have just bought one of these in the hope I can use it to find intelsat 907 with it. It doesn't seem to have the details for that satellite and being a complete novice I don't know how to convert things like the longitude into the correct format.I have downloaded the suggested BIN file and will try loading the app but I could do with some sort of idiots guide to the required Fields when adding a satellite compared to the information available on the various reference sites. Any ideas please? Also do I need software for my pc or can all updates be done on the unit itself?
Hi John,
"from one newbie to another!!"
The Intelsat 907 (IS-907) supports DBS2 ( see
Intelsat 907 at 27.5°W - LyngSat) unfortunately the WS-6906 only supports DBS encryption. The Satlink WS-6933 apparently would do the job.
All is not lost, however, from your location, log into Lyngstat.com/Intelsat-907.html you will see on the top of the page the azimuth and elevation values to set up your dish orientation for the satellite.
Mine was "
Azimuth & elevation in Longford, Ireland: 203.95° & 26.03°, The EIRP values are for Dublin, Ireland" but I do live in Ireland!
Setting up the dish correctly is the most important step in the exercise.
Once aligned, your satellite receiver set up software should kick in and "autoscan" all the channels, you might need to tweak a bit the satellite dish.
This is the barebone procedure I use when setting up my campervan sat receiver as I roam through Europe!
Good luck
