Pay-per-view broadcaster Setanta may start legal action against the BBC over its plans to broadcast its channels, and in particular Scottish football, free to the UK and Ireland. Sentana has already agreed to pay £1.4 million over two years for the rights to show BBC Scotland's 38 live games per season plus 18 exclusive live matches to the rest of the UK via Sky Digital. A Setanta insider was reported as saying that it would be seeking compensation for any losses as a result of the BBC move. The BBC was reported to be in negotiations with the Scottish Premier League over how to resolve the issue.
