Hi guys.

Im from portugal and im trying to have a setup that goes like this.

I have on dish that is facing 28.2E but im not able to see the BBC chanells and the ITV ones. I wonder if the problem is my receiver that is an old one Teka=Ouralis=Metronic.

Do i have to get a HD receiver do see this channels?

I'm using a 1000 dish.

Thanks

How far south are you? My guess is you would need at least a 1.2 metre dish to get anything from Astra 2D. No need for an HD box as there are only a handful of HD channels (unless you have a subscription). Any modern FTA receiver that carries the DVB logo on the front should be fine.

Depend where you are. Algarve 1.3/1.4 mt dish.
Closer to Lisbon 1.25 is enough. You need a good receiver such as a pace like the ones I have posted in my personal details next to this post.
Hope it helps.

The problem is dish size then as a 1m dish is too small for your location in Portugal. (Lisbon area?)

No im further north. Lamego that is 41.083333°, 7.866667º

Still the dish size right.

Should i buy a 1,20???

BTW. in outher forum someone told me that my receiver had to have DVB-S. Mine only says DVB is there a diference and is this info correct?

Tell us about that. What are you receiving from 2D? What transponers, frequencies, polarisation, etc? Does your receiver bare the DVB logo? Are you sure you are not receiving 26E (doesn't share frequencies with 2D, but does with 2A/:cool:? Or are you just receiving 2A/B?

My receiver has the DVB logo not DVB-S.

Im not getting 2A cause i dont have any off this channels ASTRA 2A

Not getting any channels fom ASTRA 2B
Not Getting any channels from ASTRA 2D

Saying this i see now that my dish is facing 19.2E

I sayd i was getting 28.2 cause the stupid receiver on the signal level says Astra 2 28.2 signal level 90%.

Cause um getting all of these _http://www.lyngsat.com/astra1m.html

off to the roof i go.

I need to get a portable TV cause the receiver is two floors down the roof top.

A basic error made many times is to believe a stupid receiver/meter, most receivers are stupid. However scanning and seeing what channels come up, as you have found out, resolves the confusion.

I guess that's why Rolf swears by his NIT meter. What meter are you using Robbo?

Instead of storming in try to get Astra 2D from a location that your dish is probably too small for anyway, you need to go for one of the Astra 2 sats that easily covers your area, check lyngsat.

I use a Lacuna, it doesn't have NIT but it guesses which satellite it is.:-rofl2
But I also have an 7inch lcd TV and receiver for confirmation.

i already have on dish getting 2 astras.

But im interested in getting the channels on the 2D and some ppl here in the north of portugal say then can get them with a 90cm dish.

Thats why im trying to get it with a 100 dish.

i think also the problem can be the receiver cause the transponders arent correct and i think im doing something rong when adding them to the receiver manualy

Even in Galicia you need a bigger dish than 90cm. Also you need to realise that 2D is much weaker than 2A/B. Here I need a 60cm for 2A and a 150cm for anything from 2D. Even if your dish were big enough it would need to be perfectly aligned. For 2A/B it could be well out and still receive them.

I've got a Lacuna too. I like it because the tuner is sensitive but use the Satcatcher to check I'm on the right satellite. I fancy a NIT, or if I can stretch to it a Combolook Color.
