Hi

Need some help please.

A friend has a DRX890W which keeps loosing signal, not sure if this is a box issue or Lnb issue.

The dish looks to be sturdy, so not sure if it is the lnb. Sometimes he can get sky sports 1hd, but 2 hd does not work, but sky sports 2 works fine.

Any suggestions as to what we should check?

Thanks

Probably a box issue.

Degraded Power Supply Smoothing Capacitors can cause such anomalies.

Can you try a known working box (yours?) at the friend's house?

Okay thank you.

Will give it a go and report back.

If I'm right, then repair kits are available for those handy with a soldering iron.

Alternatively, if that seems to be ok look for splits in the cable runs which may have allowed water to get in, any signs the dish mounts are flexing or moving, or foliage dangling down in the line of sight to the satellites (Remembering that the signals are angled in at about 30 degrees from the horizontal, not coming in from the horizon).

I have the latter problem here, next door has an elder tree just the other side of the fence so every couple of years I have to do a quiet bit of pruning when they are out. :D

Just an update, for some reason it has all been working fine since I posted this help thread.

Fingers crossed it keeps working other will give the items you have all suggested a go.

Thank you for the help.

Might have been (still is?) a less than perfect F connector.
