My Satellite Setup
force 1144 receiver, 80cm dish, 0.3 lnb, cryptic motor.

Manchester
I got to use 2 different receivers (force 1144s & technomate 7755) with the same dish/motor set-up over the last week but have been getting different signal quality & strength readings.
For instance, art sports on the force receiver is getting a 58-61% strength reading while on the technomate its 70%, tps football on the force is 67-70% on the technomate its 80%.. etc etc
Does this automatically mean the technomate is a better receiver or do different receiver manufacturers have differing ways of measuring signal strength?? I would have thought going on price the force receivers would be of better quality!

Receivers will only give a comparative figure, they are not accurately calibrated and often give a percentage so cannot be used as a reference. A better test is to find a weak transponder and try it on both receivers, then try it with a wet tea towel draped over half of the dish and see which one still receives the channel.

I think rolfw ought to get a certificate which makes him the national tea towel salesman of the year, O-Ha O-Ha certainly must keep production going... what other uses do they have?:p

LOL, don't think that tea towels have had a fair crack of the whip since I progressed to the spectrum analyser, so why not a little positive discrimination now. :D

My receiver, A Triax dvb-65s needs only 3.4dB on Astra 2D to get stable picture without freezing.
After thinking about it I see that it must be wrong.
This receiver takes away about 1-2dB on the meter.

Your Force receiver should get you a better picture to watch but I dont know about sensitivity.
