I have one of these that can be flashed but to be honest guys it's a long job & my advice would be to purchase a receiver with support, a good learning one would be a Technomate 1000, 1500, 5200 or 5400 you will get the 1st two very cheap & they are much better than the silvercrest/comag box

hey guys,

going to buy a silvercrest SL 65 on monday from lidl, im completely new to satellites, so could someone answer the following questions for me:

is the picture usually good quality?
how many channels can be recied on this particular satellite?
Can italian channels be recieved?
are most channels free? or is some kind of card or password required?

Well the first question has to be

"is your dish aligned to 31.5E"? If not give up now you are wasting your time.

I have one of these silvercrest systems, Never set it up, is it any good? Can it pick up any good free to air foreign adult channels and sport channels????

SL65 is a great receiver.

But it can only pick up what is Broadcast FTA and that increasingly excludes Sports. Adult Channels are always money-makers, but you will get loads of tacky and tame taster Channels.

If you want to know what Channels are available FTA, have a browse around sites like Flysat, Lyngsat or KingOfSat.

A good feature of the SL65 is the Auto Scan function, which saves a lot of time and effort,

Hi, nice forum, came across it during a frantic google search!

I have read through the whole of this thread and not found an answer to my problem, i'm hoping someone here can help.

I have the Silvercrest SL65 package complete with dish and twin LNB that I purchased at IRO 6 years ago im guessing. If you need more specific info hopefully it will be on the back of the reciever????

It has worked fine up until last night, when in a panic to finish watching the wifes programme and I accidently switched it over from sat to digital tv, tried to turn the SL65 back on at the same time as the wife, held down the power button too long and I think what has happened is that I unknowingly reset the reciever.

"dect" was shown on the display of the SL65 for a bit and I think it then froze, or turned off. all of our saved channels were lost.

When I try to do a scan of hotbird 13 (I think its 13.8 iirc), it gets to 18% and the tv screen goes blank, and it shows ---- on the display of the reciever.

Can anyone help me with getting the hotbird channels to scan to 100% again please? My wife isnt too happy at the moment !

I am guessing I have screwed up some of the scan settings and I have no idea how to restore them.

Would it be wise to try another reset on the reciever? (I dont want to screw things up any more )
