Hi all
I've just had to commission an engineer to work out the size of concrete base required for a prime focus 2.5m dish pointing at astra 2d here in Cyprus.
He reckons that we need a slab measuring 1.3m x 1.3m x 0.4m which equals almost 0.7m3 of concrete. This seems an outrageous amount of concrete!
Does anyone have any or know of any calculations for this area that either agrees of disagrees with his findings?
One thing that he has done that I take issue with is he has worked out the base size with the dish sitting on the vertical. He said that he has worked it out for 'worst case scenario' and even at a 50 degree angle it would make little difference but I strongly disagree with that statement.
Any help or information is appreciated
Cheers
Nick
