Shame its in SD blurry-vision. If they were serious about making the content available the HD version wouldnt be stuck behind the paywall.

You must have traded up your TVs to notice such differences as I thought you viewed everything on 14" portables fed by an RF modulator! :-rofl2

Is that similar to Samsung SlimFit ones? Those were terrible...

No it's the same size as a regular CRT. SD inputs are comically bad with forced 75hz interpolation, but as long as it's fed 1080i the picture is very good as it reverts to 50hz scan.
There were quite a few Sony & Panasonic TVs sold in the UK with 1080i tubes, as well as CRT rear projectors... but they replaced component inputs with scarts, so you couldn't connect anything HD to them :-doh

The Panny 28" crt was junked about 4 years ago. The picture had gone very soft and the colour reproduction was awful. Eurosports skiing coverage took place on blue tinged snow :D We now have a LG 43UH650 which has a nice picture. Some of the HD channels give lovely crisp pics - NHK World is especially good.

Only 1 crt left in the house. Thats in the kitchen fed by an ancient and decrepit Digisender

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
My recent bought LG 43UM7500 PLA does a pretty good job of upscaling HD & SD sources (Mainly on SKY) - images on most channels are noticeably "sharper" than the previous (and pretty good "in its day") 2011-12 vintage Tosh.

Saw that.

In the days when we used snail's pace Broadband over copper wires, I discovered to my chagrin that my then Pace DS430NSkybox was catastrophically detrimental.

The original SKY digbox's were really bad "EMI" emitters - that forced me to replace all the old single-screened cables connected to mine (one of the very first of those) with half-decent double-screened stuff, and that "sorted" the "local" interference problem. Since then, all my cables have been double-screened stuff, and I haven't had any recent such issues..

TBH, and from my previous experience in the "professional world", if the owner of "that" TV replaced all his "local" cables with properly installed double-screened cables then he could almost certainly continue to use it without causing the reported interfernce to the local wireless broadband system - because those cables are the "transmitting antennae" for all that EMI from the TV (in the TV itself, the PCB/PWB tracks are almost always too short to be "efficient" emitters of EMI generated within it)

Do we even know what type of TV it was? They were on GMTV this morning. The lady (who clearly must be obeyed) was crocheting all the way through and the fella only wanted to talk about his vintage tractor
