Hi, I'm living in Germany and would like to order a sky box office event. Is this possible ? I know you only have to ring a certain number and order it, but I've heard that once you've started watching the SBO event the box then dials in to sky to record that you've watched it so that they can bill you for it. Is this true or are you billed as soon as you order it ?
I don't know if this is relevant but I have SKY+
Cheers,
Methos.

If you phone the number and order box office your box will be just sent a signal to tell it to let you view the film and the cost will be added to your bill. The digibox only Phones Sky to tell them what box office you have ordered using your remote controll.

"RE: SKY...ABROAD.POSSIBLE ?"

In backing up just a tiny tiny bit from this thread (but stil very much related), I'm wondering Can we on the continent get the general SKY package at all ? - If I obtain a SkyBox will/can I catch anything? Are the cards (which I believe are not "reproducible") available anywhere ? Are there only the legitimate cards attached to a British address/phoneNumber ?

And while I know this is the "sky DIGITAL" topics board, I wish for my question to extend also to the use of an Analog VIDEOCRYPT receiver w/ card reader designed for the Sky package that I've seen for sale. In terms of reception would this receiver render any serveable functions - I think I've read that their analog service has ended (plus I don't even know if the manufacture of compatible cards is possible)

The only way of receiving Sky abroad is to have a UK address from which you or a friend or relative can subscribe.

The old analogue receiver is good only for free to air analogue channels now.

Link helps - has some good and simple advice (I read it myself); however, it does need updating.

Hi Mark
Sure you can phone Sky from abroad, I did my self without problems. However there could be complications. The phonecall will be flagged international a the Sky callcenter. This is not necessarily a problem, some UK phoneoperators use international connections. Just be prepared to answer any possible questions like saying "International? Thats funny other peoble have said that as well after I started using First Telecom"
Other phonecompanies abroad transmit caller-ID and this IS a problem. If you are caught this way Sky won´t activate your card and your box will have to be inspected at a UK adress working before any card can be activated in it.
Sky might want to have the income from mainland europe but also have to take action when it is obvious that something is going on.

Cheers

This is what I have being saying !!

>However there could be complications.

Sounds like 'Brazil' to me ? The face-lift, remember ?

On this I can only air my own experiences: Not True. I simple say this - "who gives a million to the poor, when they are billions in debt". We do: or, something.

Doesn't matter.

>This is not necessarily a problem,

Correct. It Isn't. I had to phone SKY again this evening.

Have Fun,

Mark.

P.S. I.E. 6 get on my scrolling nerves. I feel sea-sick!

P.P.S. Where is the proof of your claims ? Rant. Rant.
