In line with their new policy of closing SD channels where an HD variant exists, the Sky Cinema SD channels will close on 1/8/19.

I'm not sure what will happen to the sole +1 Sky Cinema channel as this is SD, maybe this one will stay??

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

It could impact on the forwarding satellite services carrying the channel (BFBS for example)
Not having the channel here, is Sky Cinema content worth the subscription ?

This only applies to cable (I think) - would BFBS be using Virgin Media as their source?

I'm not even sure how Virgin's policy to remove a SD channel in the presence of the HD version is restricted to specific content from Sky.

If the o/p posts a link to his source we could all be the wiser.

This is all I can find on the matter.

What does the deal mean?

The main takeaway for Virgin Media customers is that nothing will change with the Sky content they already enjoy, but that things will likely improve.

I wouldn't have thought so as VM themselves source most of their SD channels from the Astra satellites, with their HD channels being line fed.

The Sky Sports SD channels hadn't been converted to MPEG4 last time i looked, so it looks to me like these will be next for the chop.

The Sky Cinema SD channels were removed yesterday and are all now showing slates to advise customers of this.

VM & Sky have recently signed a new carriage agreement which, unfortunately, doesn't include Sky Atlantic, so I won't ge able to get rid of my Now TV box just yet!

Yes, but what is the package you mentioned in the first post, and how does it affect 'Virgins' elsewhere ?

The Sky Cinema package. I'm sorry, but I don't understand the second question.

Edit: The SD channel Sky Premier +1 has remained in service.
