sky dish on 30W northen spain - mixed results

I have moved to southern Navarra in Spain and taken my sky dish with me.
Bearing no illusions anout 28e with it I have trained it on 30W with puzzling results. Some transponders are quite fine while others are hopeless
These are a few I have just checked:

12302V snr 57% agc 0% not working
12225V snr 62% agc 0% ber 2056 not working
11930V snr 80% agc 86% working fine
11890H snr 71% agc 87% ber 6174 not working


Can anybody shed some light on this and perhaps some advice on what to do?

Just one comment,
The 11890H looks like there's H and V on the same freq, according to Lyngsat. How are you adjusting the SKEW for 30W? Are you using an LNB that allows you to rotate the other way. As normally the sky lnb skew is set roughly for 28.2E from the UK , with a little bit either side.

If you have not adjusted your skew for 30W, then I would suggest that this is your problem.

Solution would be to get a sky LNB that has fully adjustable SKEW, or modify the one that you have, with a hacksaw, so that it can be rotated more.

We used a Sky dish on a diseqc motor in the center of the UK and leveled the skew as much as it could and 30w from there was 100% OK as was all the strong sats .. 42e-39,36,33,28,26*,23.5,...etc.. to 45w ...

Turn the whole dish.. so that the 'lnb' is correct for 30w.. not just the dish

even better... bracket the Sky dish on a diseqc motor so that at 28e it is level and optimise the small adjustment on the skew at 30w! ..

You can do this without a motor by fixing the Sky dish bracket at the same angle as the whole of the motor axis would be(so that it traces the GSO arc... )... done it loads of times- easier and more accurate than it sounds (and you can move to other sats on the GSO easily) .

Yes, I have a sky dish on a motor with sky LNB and it works fine on the eastern sats ( I can't see west with my motor).

Aligning the dish bracket azimuth rotational axis with the polar axis sounds like fun though. I would have thought it would be tricky to get it right, but since you have done it loads of times, I believe you.

Do you have to make up some extra bracketry to enable you to track the arc properly?
