Sky epg

What YOU need to do before you can run this plugin is edit the script.

- Edit the getsky file, it's a script
- Change the EPG location to suit your needs. It's currently set to /mnt/usb
- Change the 'hello(a)world.com' to your own e-mail address
- chmod 755 getsky, xml2epg
- Change the TIMEZONE to whatever you need for your location

It will create a epg.dat and epgui.dat file for compatibility with epgui 2.2, MV and DreamVCR

Credit for this plugin/script goes to oudeis, for writing the xml convertion tool

Note : this is for Sky UK only

Its good. Just does BBCs, ITVs, C4, SKY1 + Mix, Movies, Paramount and discovery. You just have to run the "Download Sky data" plugin from your remote every 2-3 days to keep updated. This takes about 30sec. You can set up a view that suits. I use mine to show the next five programs on each of the above channels. A cool feature is if you press the info button twice on a movie it connects to the IMBD database for info on that movie.

Forgot to mention I think it may only work on Davinci. Wasn't working on Gemini for some people if memory serves. More details on sat industry.

I presume this works from the internet. Is a plugin available which works the same as a $ly digibox and gets the epg from the satellite ?

PLi cam downloads can be obtained by using the blue button & chosing the install software (needs internet) option ?
select your emu, installation is automatic, & go to the emu panel (blue button again).
activate your cam, choose to download the latest keys, and convert the keys. All is available straight from the emu panel. Restart emu & let there be light.
so - what's your problem ?

Ahhh! Sorry, missed a step! Thanks for help matey. Only thing I cant get working now is using my sky FTV card so I can get channel 4, 5, sky 3, etc. Is this because the version on newcamd I am downloading from the bluebutton options does not have that betad function, or do I have to configure the newcamd 6.04 bluebutton downloaded version to do something else. Seriously, once that is working, I could have working c**o and UK sky ftv with a working FTV and SkyPLUS features. Back of the net!!

Any words of wisdom then mr JTA?!?!

TIA

to operate a sky card you need newcamd 5.28 with the patched cardserver, or newcamd 6.0x with betad. If you install a newcamd 6.0x version, you should also get a copy of cardserver and betad. In the emu panel you must specify you're using cardserver. But you'll probably also have to edit the config files (newcamd.conf, cardserv.conf and betad.conf) to make sure they point to the correct ports (where your sky card can be found). This can be a bit of a pain in the *ss to get this right !
I've read of other people who have used newCS in combination with mgcamd, this also seems to work with Sky cards.
I'd do the following : download & install newcamd 6.0x cardserver, put sky card in top notch (chip facing down), set emu panel correctly, reset emu and cardserver, and switch channels to Channel4.
No image ? put the sky card in the bottom notch, go to the emu panel, reste emu and cardserver, switch channels to Five.
Again no image ? Trouble --> you'll have to verify all the configuration files now to check for inconsistencies.
