Hello,

I have a Sky Freeview smartcad and i need some information regarding the update. I rarely use the smartcard so when i insert it into receiver it usually appear as expired and need to be updated. My problem is that somtimes i need to wait two weeks until the card is updated. My receiver is a Dreambox and i use OScam as SoftCAM. EMM are coming continuously but how i mentioned, my card is slow in update. Can someone know if can i request somehow from Sky to send update EMM sooner or is there a special day in the month when Sky is updating the Freeview smartcards? I mention that i do not live in UK and i do not have Sky receiver.

The BSkyB Card you have gets you a very few (If any, these days) Free To View Channels plus Regionalisation for BBC and ITV so can you tell us exactly what you use it for?

I wouldn't phone them. if I were you, as you are using it out of area (UK/RoI).

There is nothing you can do but wait for the Card to be refreshed. Better not to let it go to sleep in the first place?

Each time i update the software on the receiver i make a test with all my available smartcards, including this Videoguard smartcard from Sky. So the main purpose of the card is for firmware and CAM testing. Of course, to be able to use the card first i make sure that is working in OScam on my DM800 that i have for daily use.

stick it in your dm800 and leave it on CH5HD and it will update eventually

I use the smartcard to test how the new version of firmware works with NDS smartcards. I need a working smartcard to do that and the free-to-view was my best choice.

The Line up is something like this:

CH5 HD, Sony Movies, Sony Movies +1, Sony TV, Sony TV +1, Liverpool FCTV, Motors TV UK, VIVA, Sony Max

Plus if your FTV Card is from the NW you also get for some strange reason 2 more entitlements for the Irish Version of CH4 and the FTV 1 hour slots on setanta

After one week of waiting, the card finally updated.

The following channels are working: Channel5HD, SonyTV, SonyTV+1, Sony Movies, Sony Movies+1, Motors TV UK, Liverpool FCTV. Possibly more to be available but i did not insist in searching, those being more than enough for what i use the smartcard.
