Hi,

I have been planning to set up a system with four LNBs from one dish. However, I have understood that Sky digibox doesn't support DiSEqC control and this would be a bit of a problem since I was planning to use 4 quad LNBs run through 4 4-to-1 DiSEqC switches thus enabling two input in two rooms (both Sky+ and my FTA receiver have twin tuners).

Can you advice if Sky+ box supports DiSEqC switches or is the only possibility to run two direct cables to Sky+ box and then route the rest of the satellites through switches to the FTA box?

Just to clarify, my intention was not to limit the room to watch Sky beforehand, but instead make a flexible setup.

Thanks for any insight into this.

You have it dead right in your second paragraph, the digibox does not support DiseqC.

Thanks rolfw, does this also cover the newest Pace Sky+ v2 boxes that have DiSEqC 1.2 support for motorized antennas, how about the latest Amstrad Sky+ box?

You may have newer information than me then, wasn't aware that the new Sky+ boxes were equipped with DiseqC, didn't notice anything in the setup menu, but then again wasn't looking for it.

From Pace web-page http://www.pace.co.uk/products/prodinfo.asp?PID=Sky3100 I picked up the following description:

Includes a number of additional features such as:
  • Links recordings to BSKYB Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) for ease of recording and retrieving from the disc
  • DiSEqC™1.2 for full control of LNB
  • Software upgrade over air
  • Live Pause/Time Shift/Catch Up feature
  • Circular green playback front panel display feature
  • Instant Rewind feature
  • Favourite Channels feature
  • Teletext
  • DVB Subtitles
However, to my undestanding the 1.2 means ability to control motorized antenna, but here it claims to provide "full control of LNB". This got me confused and was not sure if this means that it can handle switches as well?

Could you see if the menus have option for controlling swithces?

No way of checking at the moment I'm afraid, I haven't got one myself. Certainly says that it has it though.

PS. DiseqC 1.2 will control DiseqC LNB switches.

Manufacturers usually write 1.0 / 1.2 (or 1.1 / 1.2 ) in the specs to indicate that the product handles switches as well as motorised DisEqC. But just because the box has the necessary hardware/firmware, doesn't mean that it is actually available for use, (e.g. dolby digital doesn't work unless you have a Sky+ sub.)
