The expected August demise of FTV cards is already in progress, with a gradual process of switching cards off already underway. Many viewers have only just started receiving the message that some channels will soon cease to be available where as many others are already reporting the loss of channels ITV1, Channel 4 and five.

With the BBC pulling funding on new cards due to its now FTA availability, many viewers have started resorting to their own measures to continue viewing without a subscription to Sky. Adult Pay-Per-View stations are allegedly supplying cards to those who register with them, but also allow them access to the missing terrestrial stations.

Much contraversy is already surrounding this issue, particularly in light of the BBC now having difficult-times negotiating rights to films for its Autumn schedules.

More news on the position for FTV card holders as we receive it.
