Hi, i was wondering is Sky Pluss any good? is it worth the 200quid for the reviver from BskyB? or can you buy your own cheaper and just buy a subscription? thank you.

Sky HD, TM6800HD, Manhattan Plaza ST550 and TM1500 CI+. 1.0m dish and 36v motor, Panasonic DVD HDD recorder and Panasonic video/DVD recorder. Sony G800 HD TV stand/surround system + Sony KDL40W2000. Infinity USB, Elvis, CAS1, CAS2.

From what I've heard, briggsy, it's the best PVR system around. If you can pick up a box cheaper then you should be able to sign up for a sub. Independent dealers can help you, doesn't have to be through BSkyB.

is a 40gig harddrive as big as they come? i mean i would buy a 300gig harddrive if i could and replace it?

Receviers other than Sky+ have up to 120 G (at the last count- it could be more) in their spec, so its probably possible to load a larger drive into these. Im not sure of the impact on the timer / management system when setting the recorder with a small amoutn of space left though. I would assume the receiver 'knows' what is fitted when the drive is initiated.
