In short is the Sky Repair Plan worth the cost ?

Mine is due for renewal and i don't really want to renew it.

I am paying out for it for up to now nothing!

If my Sky equiptment goes wrong is there any reason why i can't just buy a replacement from i.e. E-Bay ?

If something brakes then you can indeed just buy a replacement from eBay. You can even just phone Sky and threaten to cancel as your equipment doesn't work and say you can't afford the £60 call out, they are known to sometimes give free call outs to long standing customers.

Out of interest what does the repair plan cost?

Thanks Polomint,

My plan costs £79 pa. I know its not much but i begrudge paying monthly what i already do for sky for the full package. £79 is better in my pocket then in Sky's !!!

Looks like i won't renew it.

That's an absolutely shocking price, given that a call out costs ~£60

Cancel!

You can buy a brand new box off eBay, so it isn't normally worth taking the plan.

I hope the box doesn't break down any time soon, otherwise my name will be Mud. :D

PS, I meant to put a price on my post above of around £140, second hand ones can be as little as £40 and LNBs for a tenner. :)

A minidish LNB is only around £25 retail in the UK, as I said, better to buy one on the web, they are as little as a tenner.

Don't worry Rolf, i will order a new box over the next few days. I currently have a black unit & i want a silver one to match my TV, DVD, Technomate, Video etc. and keep the black one as a spare.

my quad lnb for my minidish was a fiver, from a sky guy.

I take it you gave up on the motorised system and got a S*y dish then?
