sky digital 28.2 deg. if i set up a compass it reads about 38 deg is there an offset or something. how do you work out the elevation of the dish for any satelitte. how much trouble do trees cause with the signal cheers.

Welcome to the forum mickuk

It is 28.2 degrees East of due south thus 151.8 degrees East of north. Find due south and then go 28 degrees further east. Think where the sun is at mid-day and that is south then rotate another 28 degrees to the East and you are in the correct region. the dish should look like this from the side, almost vertical

Yes they do, if they are between your dish and a view of the satellite, then you will not receive a good signal.

In Durham, a minidish dish face will appear to be pointing slightly down, or at the best straight forward, the mistake most people make is to point it too high. :)

No, actually the compass will give you magnetic north, which is currently about 11-12 degrees west of true north in the uk, which would explain your dilemma!

Cheers. :)
