I am puzzled by the way in which Channels are found and added in Cyprus.

The Sky box has to be set at 11740 V to get the main freeview channels. For ITV I have found that it is necessary first to add on 10.832H before going to 10.714 H for Anglia S etc. Going first to 10.714 H gives no channels. Can someone please explain what is going on? Can the box itself be set to automatically default to 11.740 V and not 11.778 V when it boots up.

Also, what cards are availble whereby one can get BBC London (101) and ITV London (103) on the EPG. My Freesat card obtained in London at first could do this, but I have lost ITV London and have to go to Add Channels to get regional ITV programmes. Loosing the ITV channel means that I cannot use Rec Synch on my HD recorder using the Autoview feature in Sky.

I have just bought a Pace 2600 C1 and for the first time there seems to be 25% on the signal quality bar, almost none before on the 430!

:) :) :)

Unfortunately it is impossible to get ITV london in Cyprus, The only way you can get ITV on the EPG is by having another region card i.e. Anglia South. Then you would only be able to see BBC on 974

With regards 11740 V this is used only to get a signal. Unfortunatley 11778 is not available in Cyprus. Your box will automatically default back to 11778 but will retain a signal

Not quite true m8, 11778 is the EPG backround music and it can be got out here. Just try it by typing that number in the add channels menu and see what comes up.

The reason that most people advise setting 12.207 as the default transponder is that it is one of the strongest in cyprus. 11778 is not always strong depending on the time of the day and smaller dishes, say below 2.5m definately has issues with grabbing onto it.

fmac. It is possible to permenantly change the default transponder but I'm damned if I remember how. The reason that many digiboxes revert back to 11778 is that if it can see 11778 with out problem then it will reset back to it automatically. I know that the bars on the Signal strength may show higher but it makes not one jot of difference!! It is the picture on the screen that proves the signal strength. In any case that will only show the signal strength for the default transponder that you have chosen.

Try going into the installer menu, - sevices 4 0 1 select - and select manual tuning. Type in 12207 (all other settings default) and find channels. The next screen will display the signal strength for that transponder. Now go back and try with others such as 11778, 10714 (ITV)& 10773(BBC) and you will see what I mean.

Hope that clears things up

Cheers

Thanks; we have about 50% on both signal and quality on the Pace 2600.

Still don't see why to add ITV channels, I need to go to 10.832 first, then 10.714. Doing 10.714 first does nothing!

If you remember how to set the default frequency, please lert me know. May as well set to 11.740 and eliminate on step when there is a power out!:( :( :(

The inablility to receive the lower band channels at first try, could be to do with a 22khz tone being generated, there is a filter made to cure this, do a google search for panafix2d filter. Not saying that this is definitely the case, but certainly a possiblity.

Don't under stand that bit at all Fred!

Its a little complicated to explain so forgive me if I lead you astray....

10.832 is for ITV west which is what your FTV card is set to. This means that the postcode that it was registered to is in the ITV west region.
If the card had been registered in the anglia region then if you pressed in 103 to your remote then you would get ITV Anglia and as a result you would never need to use the 'other channels' menu on your digibox! It just happens that your FTV card is not an anglia / tyne tees one BTW these are like hens teeth.

You shouldn't actually have to programme in 10.832 to your menus at all. You have to use 10.714 H 22.0 5/6 in the add channels menu (services 4 4 select) the strongest of the half dozen or so ITVs is anglia so choose to save them. You can then get them on the other channels (services 8 ) menu at any time, your digibox will not loose them.

contact me if you would like more info

Cheers

Rolfw, He has a Pace 2600 now, not a Panasonic and in any case I know that it works fine on a 2.7m with Invacom quad because I supplied it to him and it worked fine on my setup:D

Ahhhh. :) Was looking at his profile when I typed that. :) Oops.

Having said that, I know it is not now relevant, but the problem with the Panasonic boxes is not an issue with all LNBs, only certain ones, so it could be quite possibly for it to work fine on one setup, but not on another.

Which l"atest" software
I had one today on a new installation. The customer supplied his own panasonic db31,and we plugged it in and because his itv was central west he got no signal so i tried to tune 10714,got a good signal but "no channels found" so i tuned 10832 and itv central south etc came up no problem.I went back to 10714 but same problem. Then i noticed the box had older software.i tried a forced upgrade but it didnt upgrade first go and i had to leave so i am hoping it will upgrade itself by monday and try again.
Os maybe because it is a panasonic db31 which dont work too good over here?

This is with the Pana 30, Pace 430, and I haven't tried it on the Pace 2600 yet.

Should be 3.4.4b (or maybe 3.4.4a if I had it on the shelf for a while and it hasn't yet updated) It definately would have had the new style EPG on board.

Cheers

Fred

I am another who would be very grateful if someone could advise how to set (alter) the default frequency. My current default transponder is 11778 which gives a signal quality of 25% on average. 12207, however, gives 90%!!

if you do a new installation when there is very bad weather at around 2pm then you will get the masseage "no default transponder found, press select to modify settings" so then you type in your favourite frequency (which hopefully should work in bad weather, like 12.207) and if you get"channel line up complete" then that frequency will stay as the default transponder.but some receivers will go back to 11.778 after a power cut.
