Hi guys, i have a friend whom is moving to the states for a few years, he would like to know if sky can be picked up over there as he has a sky+ receiver. I think not but could somebody please confirm one way or the other.

No, not possible. No Astra2/Eurobird beams can be received even on the east coast of the US

You're right Andy, he can't, the satellite would almost certainly be below the horizon.
