It functions pretty much the same, but cannot drive a DiseqC motor as far as I know.

Interesting, seem to remember a thread in which it was decided that it didn't, has something changed recently?

Wouldn't be the first time I've been made to look stupid ;)

Whilst the warning in the readme is a little intimidating, there are plenty of happy users.

Does the USB version receive 4.2.2. transmissions ie High Definition TV?
If so I shall get one.

I think you asked this before, but I don't know. There aren't many of us with the USB version!

Anyone know?

I suspect that it will do 4:2:2 but not HDTV.

Sorry, I thought 4.2.2 and HDTV where the same thing.
I downloaded the data sheets for SS2 USB and didn't see any reference to HDTV, so maybe it doesn't support it.
Shame really

Having just done a bit more searching around, the consensus seems to be that SS2 USB is USB 1.x only, so not fast enough to transfer HDTV signals.
There a USB 2 device which supports HDTV as well as Diseqc 1.2.
This is the Twinhan Starbox 11.
My next question is whether this device would support emus and softcam
Anybody know??

I have tried out my Skystar USB and Standard channels are fantastic, tried a HD channel and it was very choppy. Not sure if this is down to only being USB1 or poor reception as I only have a mini dish pointing at 19.2.

Have no idea, but the fact that the SS2USB is only USB1 is why I suggested that it couldn't support HDTV.

That's one huge chunk of data to push down a USB1 pipe. The fact that there should be no funtional difference in the USB and PCI versions is why I suggested that it's likely to do 4:2:2, although there is also (I believe) a significant increase in bandwidth requirement with 4:2:2.

Sorry, I only do SS2 :)

I've got a SS2 USB. If you give me directions to a HDTV channel I can try it out and post the results...

Will try tomorrow with 1mtr dish...

Tried the HDForums channel on Hotbird. NO LUCK...
Have had a look around, and other sites are saying you cannot get HDTV using USB1.1...
The Twinhan Starbox uses USB2.0, but I've just come across this little beauty that works on USB2.0 as well.
Anyone have any info for it?

Hey, hang on a minute... This sounds promising, I've only just seen your post m8 :)

What spec computer are you running? My Athlon XP 2500 only just keeps up with the processing of the feed from my PCI version of the SS2.

Man, I have to say though, that watching the HD TPS demo is completely stunning. I had forgotten just how totally amazing it is :D

Hi I do not know how relevant this info is,[ I am a very raw beginer with the usb skystar2 ] but in the Readme files when the Skystar 2 usb is first installed it says PCI Requirements Pentium 3 700 MHz / HDTV Requires Pentium 4 2000 MHz. I am still trying to fathom out how and what you have to do to see 4.2.2 broadcasts.
